As we face the current situation, last fall’s Bible Study seems particularly poignant as we looked at Max Lucado’s series, “You’ll Get Through This … hope and help for your turbulent times.” For those who attended – but good for all of us to remember – there was a line that we repeated weekly, “You’ll get through this. It won’t be painless. It won’t be quick. But God will use this mess for good. In the meantime, don’t be foolish or naïve. But don’t despair either. With God’s help, you will get through this.”
We face difficult and challenging times. There is much fear, involving the ‘unknown.’ But what we do know is this, and that is that God is here … God is present. Grab a Bible and read the words of Psalm 121. “I lift up my eyes to the hills – from where will my help come? My help comes from the Lord who made heaven and earth. … The Lord will keep you from all evil; he will keep your life. The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time on and forevermore.” (vs. 1-2, 7-8)
In the meantime, even though we are practicing physical distancing, please remain connected as a people of God. Call a neighbor. Check up on a friend. And as the Church, we’re trying to keep things as ‘normal’ as possible with sermons available online, worshiping together at church while practicing social distancing, and the office remaining open to receive your phone call. Most of all, know this … with God’s help, we will get through this.
God’s Peace,
